Westlake Village: HILL Training Continues

Saturday January 9, 2010

30 Mile Bike (about 2 hours) followed immediately by a 10 Minute Run

I remember doing this course for the first time last year. It is tough course if you are a newbie, but very doable. By now, I've done this course numerous times over the past year so it is not very tough anymore. However, we knew it would be a challenge for all the new folks on our team. Overall our team rocked it today. Everyone made it and everyone succeeded. We had 4 different people crash today but the good news is nobody was seriously injured. Below are pictures of one of my mentees, David Hamer, who had a nasty fall and is showing off his battle scars:

Following the bike ride with did a quick 10 minute run immediately off the bike. Our first BRICK RUN of the season. Ten minutes may not seem like a lot but it is important to get your legs used to the feeling of running right after you get done with a long bike ride. As the season continues, we will build on these brick runs by running 10, then 20, then 30 minutes and so on. Great practice today. I had a blast.
